What do I need to install a home charger?

  • Off-street parking: A private off-street parking space, such as a driveway or garage, is essential for installing your own charger.
  • Freeholder permission: If you live in a block of flats or a rented property, you'll need to obtain permission from the freeholder before installation.
  • Electrical safety check: If you own or rent a property built before 2008, and are planning to install a Toyota HomeCharge, we will arrange for British Gas to check your electrics are up to standard free of charge. Not all properties are suitable for an EV charger, and some may require electrical work before installation.
