Personal Data Deletion
In order to keep your personal data secure, we strongly recommend that you remove all personal details from your vehicle’s multimedia system, MyToyota app and My Toyota before the vehicle is sold to another person.
The following sections will demonstrate the simple steps required to remove your personal data from all three platforms.
How to delete my personal data before selling my car?
Your multimedia system would normally store information, such as home and work address, text messages, call history and login details to My Toyota. You can remove all information stored in just a few simple clicks.
- Press the physical 'Setup' button on the fascia of the multimedia unit, select 'General', then select 'Delete personal data'
- Select 'Delete' to remove all personal data from your multimedia system
- Select 'Yes'
- You should see confirmation that the deletion process is now in progress. In the meantime, please do not turn the vehicle engine off.
When selling your car, it is your responsibility to remove any personal data from your MyToyota account, as specified in the Connected Services Terms of Use. Don’t cancel your account, as any future Toyota cars you may own can be added to the account. Note: The deleted data cannot be retrieved afterwards and you will see only new data if you reactivate.
- Open your MyToyota app
- Click the Car icon and choose your car if you have more than one
- Select 'Settings'
- Select 'Car' tab
- Choose 'Remove your vehicle' to delete everything
- Select 'Remove vehicle'
- Confirm the completion of data deletion for your car

- Sign in to your account
- Select 'Owned' tab
- Click 'Enlarge' icon in your car to be deleted
- Click 'menu' icon and select “Remove car”
- Confirm the completion of data deletion for your car
