PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC DRIVING FAQS

Hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars use the same proven Toyota Hybrid technology, but with a notable difference.

All Toyota Hybrids drive using either electric energy or a combination of petrol and electric. This offers a high degree of flexibility, particularly for longer journeys.

Toyota Plug-in Hybrids feature a significantly higher capacity battery and a greater pure electric driving range of up to 46 miles*. Plug-ins can be charged from an external electricity source, such as a domestic socket, or a dedicated wall box. While charging as often as possible will allow for maximum efficiency, Toyota plug-in hybrids run in hybrid mode even when uncharged.

The RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid is responsive and delivers an enjoyable driving experience.

With lower CO2 emissions and increased efficiency compared to a conventional combustion engine car, RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid also delivers great fuel economy.

You can also benefit from an incredible electric drive – from instant torque to a fully silent interior space.

RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid has a pure electric range of up to 46 miles*.

For longer journeys, the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid seamlessly switches to operating as a Hybrid car, combining petrol and regenerated battery power.

Charging a plug-in hybrid is easy and you can charge whilst you are at home, or at a growing number of locations when travelling.

There are two methods of charging the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid

Fast (7kW to 22kW)
Much faster than a normal plug, dedicated EV chargers, such as Toyota HomeCharge can be installed at home or found in many public and workplace car parks. You can also find fast chargers in a growing number of workplaces and public car parks.

Slow (3.7kW)
You can even charge your vehicle through a domestic 3-pin plug socket which can be convenient although this is a slower way to charge.
