Toyota started the hybrid revolution more than 25 years ago and continues to drive for a world with lower emissions. Hybrids combine electric drive with petrol engines for effortless performance and convenience.
What is a Hybrid?
Toyota Hybrid cars seamlessly switch between electric energy and a blend of petrol and electric power to optimise performance, meaning you can drive like you always have.
Do Hybrids run on electricity?
Hybrids can use electric power to pull away and even cruise at speeds up to 30mph. Because most Toyota Hybrids are self-charging, when the battery runs low, excess power from the engine charges it back up again.
Do Hybrids have to be charged?
Hybrids feature pioneering, self-charging battery technology. They are known as ‘Hybrid-electric’ vehicles because they have two energy sources. This means that unlike pure electric vehicles and Plug-in Hybrids you don’t have to plug them in to recharge their batteries.
Can I trust Hybrid technology?
The pioneering battery technology in a Toyota Hybrid is engineered to last for the entire lifetime of the car. In fact, some mechanical elements such as the clutch, alternator and starter motor are removed completely, further reducing the risk of unforeseen costs in the future. Not only that, all Hybrid components, including the Hybrid battery, come with Toyota’s 5-year/100,000 mile* warranty which – with an annual Hybrid Health Check – extends battery cover for up to 10 years.
